President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the Law “On the National Infrastructure of Geospatial Data” № 554-IX, which was adopted by the Parliament on April 13, 2020.
The law establishes the legal basis for the creation, operation and development of the national infrastructure of geospatial data - geocadastre. The document will make it possible to form a modern system of citizens' access to all types of geographical information.
"The introduction of the land market requires transparency. Ukraine has one of the most modern geocadastres. It should be so in a country that calls itself the granary of Europe. Transparency and openness are a way to overcome corruption and protect peasants and farmers from raids and frauds," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
In addition, the law signed by the Head of State opens online access for Ukrainians to geospatial data and metadata created in the public sector and by monopoly enterprises.
This law also amends the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses in order to introduce liability for violations of the legislation on national geospatial data infrastructure.
