President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the presentation of the Development Strategy of the Mykolaiv region for the period up to 2027.
"There is a simple and clear formula by which we should move towards our common, successful future. It sounds like this: a successful citizen is a successful community. A successful community is a successful region. A successful region is a successful Ukraine. That is why "Ukraine is you" is not just a beautiful slogan. This is our guide on the way to a new, competitive, strong, and therefore prosperous and happy Ukraine," the Head of State said in his opening speech.
He noted that over 29 years of the history of modern Ukraine, politicians have written many strategies that they were never going to implement.
"These strategies were not based on the strengths of the regions. And development and progress is simply impossible if each region does not understand its mission. Because of this, the same questions constantly arise: What is the state of Ukraine? Is it agrarian? Is it industrial? Maybe it is marine? Maybe Ukraine is a space state? Or tourist? What to bet on? On IT? On metallurgy? On the military-industrial complex? On the transit potential of Ukraine? Or eco-products? The answer is simple - all this is Ukraine. We must turn all this into a success story," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
That is why, according to him, the strategies of development of regions were drafted, one of which - the strategy of development of the Mykolaiv region - is presented today.
The President noted that each region should know its advantages, its potential, and most importantly - understand its integral contribution to the common victory and development of the country.
"I believe that 25 regions of Ukraine are our dream team. Everyone in this team is an indispensable player. And, of course, the Mykolaiv region is no exception," the Head of State said.
According to him, the Mykolaiv region has a great potential in agriculture, tourism, metallurgical, shipbuilding and machine-building spheres.
"The tourist logo of your city has a wonderful slogan: “Mykolaiv is a city on the wave!" I sincerely wish both your city and your beautiful region to always be on the wave - on the wave of success, on the wave of positivity and the wave of victories," the President said.
Presenting the Strategy of Development of the Mykolaiv region, Chairman of the faction of the Servant of the People party in the Verkhovna Rada Davyd Arakhamia emphasized that Mykolaiv is the main port hub of Ukraine. However, high freight traffic is rapidly destroying highways.
Therefore, according to him, in the near future it is planned to increase the capacity of rail transportation and adopt the law on inland waterway transport, so that some of the goods transported by roads can be transported by rivers.
As part of the implementation of the program of the President of Ukraine "Great Construction", a full-fledged repair of the bridge with a new surface across the Southern Bug will begin in the Mykolaiv region.
In addition, it is important to complete the bypass road near Mykolaiv, create parking lots for trucks and use automatic size-weight control systems.
The development of shipbuilding, which will give impetus to economic development and increase the number of jobs in the region, is also planned.
"Everyone remembers well that Mykolaiv is a city of shipbuilders, and in recent years only thanks to Nibulon and Ocean plants several ships appeared. Before that, we haven't built a single ship in 10 years. 20-25 thousand new jobs in the shipbuilding industry is an indicator that can be achieved," Davyd Arakhamia stressed.
It is planned to launch the program of updating the military fleet in Mykolaiv and building a new military object in Ochakiv.
Among other important projects planned to be implemented in the region, David Arakhamia mentioned the solution to the problem of salinization of the Berezan Estuary and the launch of a system of public online monitoring of air quality in the region.
Separately, the people's deputy stressed the need to restore the South Bug irrigation system, which was affected by the drought. According to him, after its renewal, the yield within the state can increase by 40%.
In the field of tourism, the Mykolayiv Riviera project has been developed to connect Kobleve and Ochakiv by the road near the sea. It is also planned to develop the infrastructure near the Kinburn Spit and expand the Mykolaiv-Odesa road.
