During his working trip to the Donetsk region, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on the security situation in the region.
During the meeting, the Head of State officially introduced the newly appointed Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov.
"I understand that this is one of the most responsible missions, probably one of the most difficult positions in the army, especially during wartime. Therefore, I want to wish you effective work, success, and, of course, victory as a result of the appropriate actions. I really want you to remember that our people are the most important, and do everything to preserve the maximum number of personnel," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President heard reports from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin and Head of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions Oleksandr Nadtochiy.
Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on the situation on the frontline in the Donetsk region and in certain sectors of the Kharkiv, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. He informed about the course of manning the brigades, the dynamics of ammunition supply and its consumption.
Vadym Filashkin spoke about the completion of the defense lines. According to him, the third line of fortifications being built by civilians is 90% complete. He also noted that the regional authorities are assisting the military in the construction of the second line of defenses. Work is underway to restore water supply to Pokrovsk, evacuate people from the frontline areas and prepare for the new school year, which will be held online in the region.
Following the meeting, the President instructed to take into account the increased need for drones in the Pokrovsk direction when distributing UAVs between different parts of the frontline, as well as to simplify the procedure for issuing documents certifying the destruction of housing in frontline areas.
