In Washington, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The President emphasized the critical importance of urgently supplying additional air defense systems to Ukraine in light of Russia's targeted destruction of key Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, including the energy system and medical facilities.
"The statement regarding the supply of additional Patriot systems is significant, and we are grateful to Germany and our partners for this step. At the same time, we need more assistance to counter Russian airstrikes: more air defense systems and F-16 aircraft," he said.
The leaders condemned the Russian attack on the "Okhmatdyt" children's hospital. The President thanked Germany for its willingness to accept its patients.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed Olaf Scholz about the situation in the airspace and on the frontline, particularly in the Kharkiv direction and the east of our country. The parties discussed strategies to combat Russian guided bomb carriers and reconnaissance drones.
They also focused on the results of the first Peace Summit and future measures for their implementation.
During the meeting, the practical implementation of the G7 decision to allocate $50 billion to Ukraine from frozen Russian assets was also discussed.
