For Ukraine, Justice Is Not a Bargaining Chip but a Moral and Legal Necessity – Iryna Mudra

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Mudra held a meeting with Rapporteur of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Eerik-Niiles Kross, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights Guillem Cano Palomares, and Head of the Verkhovna Rada's Permanent Delegation to PACE Mariia Mezentseva-Fedorenko.

The meeting focused on the establishment of an international special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, the transfer of frozen Russian assets for the recovery of our state, and the restoration of justice.

“This is not just about compensation for Ukraine as a country that has suffered from aggression and is now forced to rebuild its cities, economy, and society. It’s also about affirming Europe’s agency and its readiness to defend itself,” said Iryna Mudra.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office thanked the partners from the Council of Europe for their support of the Ukrainian people and emphasized that for Ukraine, justice is not a bargaining chip but a moral and legal necessity.

“Ukraine and the entire world need a just and lasting peace. If peace is not just, it cannot last – and it cannot be true peace,” she noted.

PACE representatives reaffirmed their steadfast support for Ukraine in the pursuit of justice, the establishment of a dignified peace, and the upholding of the rule of law and human rights.
