President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the relatives of those killed in the forest fires in the Luhansk region. He said this during a conversation with media representatives within a working trip to the Rivne region. At the same time, the Head of State noted that units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, the National Guard and servicemen of the Armed Forces were involved in the elimination of large-scale fires in the Luhansk region.
"Now our military and employees of the State Emergency Service, the police are working very fast together. We were making central roads, so the equipment is now getting to any such place very quickly. Everything available was sent, everyone is working,” the Head of State said.
He noted that criminal proceedings had been instituted over the forest fires.
"Professionals and law enforcement officers must say whether it was a provocation (by militants - ed.) or other reasons," the President stressed.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that these are not the first fires this year, in particular in the Luhansk region. The Head of State is hopeful that firefighters and rescuers will cope with the fire as soon as possible, yet understands how hard it is.
