President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy got acquainted with the reconstruction and prospects of infrastructure development of the Ivano-Frankivsk International Airport during his working visit to the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
Airport Director Petro Osypenko informed that since 2010 the airport has been granted in concession to company "Skorzonera" for 30 years. It is obliged to invest not less than UAH 50 million in the reconstruction and improvement of the complex, under the terms of the agreement.
Since then, the concessionaire has transferred almost UAH 10.7 million of concession payments to the regional budget, as well as invested UAH 18 million. The concessionaire company initiated the reconstruction of the runway, the modernization of the premises of the airport terminal and the expansion of air traffic. The estimated cost of the reconstruction project is UAH 2.14 billion.
The Head of State instructed the RSA management to ensure coordination of all interested parties for the implementation of the project of reconstruction of the airport terminal, to supervise the preparation of a new contract with the concessionaire and to ensure its implementation. The President also asked the Ministry of Finance to include in the draft budget for 2020 necessary expenditures for the implementation of the project on the basis of generalized proposals of the Ministry of Defense, which owns the runway and the Ministry of Infrastructure.
"We all want the airport to be here. The State wants to help," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President urged to sign an investment agreement to raise funds for the reconstruction of the Ivano-Frankivsk International Airport.
"We will sign a tripartite investment agreement with a guarantee of return for what the State should build. You build, we return. All is fair," the President emphasized.
During a meeting with members of the public of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that a Modern International Airport should be in a year and a half in Ivano-Frankivsk and urged local businesses to join this project.
"We saw your airport, it looks good. But we agreed with Mr. Olexandr Shevchenko (before the election of People's Deputy - director of the company "Skorzonera" - Ed.) that we would start building an airport very soon. And we really want a Modern International Airport will be in a year and a half in Ivano-Frankivsk," the President summarized.
