Pursuant to the instruction of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak held a working meeting on the preparation of a security agreement with the United States.
The meeting was attended by members of the delegation involved in negotiations on drafting and preparing bilateral and multilateral international agreements between Ukraine and other states on security commitments for our country.
"This agreement should be exemplary: it should take into account the real capabilities of the United States and the best elements of the security agreements already signed by Ukraine," emphasized Andriy Yermak.
The meeting participants discussed the key elements of the future document, the strengths of the nine bilateral security agreements already concluded, and the algorithm of actions once the US Congress passes a decision on military assistance to Ukraine.
Two rounds of negotiations on the security agreement were held with American partners. The meeting participants agreed on actions to prepare for the next round, which will enable them to advance in drafting the document.
"The US agreement with Ukraine should be as effective as the US memorandum with Israel, which confirmed the effectiveness of allied actions during the recent repulsion of Iran's massive attack on Israel," the Head of the Presidential Office said.
