President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted the assistance and principled position of Poland in Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression.
“Today, I sincerely thanked Poland and the entire Polish people for supporting Ukraine in the difficult time of Russian aggression. Thank you for protecting international law. We highly appreciate the principled position, determination and professionalism of your delegation to the UN Security Council, the European Union, NATO and other international organizations,” the Head of State noted at a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda.
According to him, the parties coordinated further steps to end the war in the east of Ukraine and return the occupied Crimea.
"Our common and principled position: without full implementation of the Minsk agreements, without restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders, the EU sanctions can only be revised in terms of their intensification, not vice versa," the President of Ukraine stressed.
For his part, Andrzej Duda assured of the continued support of Poland for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing that the Ukrainian state should reclaim its territories.
“Our position in this context regarding Russia is unequivocal - we believe that the sanctions policy should be continued, as it is the most peaceful way to make the state comply with the standards of international law. I would like to emphasize that these standards are being violated today. We will always stand side by side with Ukraine in this issue, as it should regain its territorial integrity,” he said. The Polish President also believes that a successful process of returning captives would be an important element in the resolution of the situation in Ukraine.
“We stand with Ukraine and support it. Ukraine is a free, sovereign and independent state. And it must remain so. No one can violate peace and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Particularly now - in the context of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II - it is important to emphasize that no one is allowed to change borders by force either in Europe or in the world. It happened in Ukraine in 2014, and the situation should return to normal - full territorial integrity of Ukraine,” Andrzej Duda said.
The Polish President noted cooperation in the military field, including assistance in the treatment and rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian soldiers. The Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade was also established and is now operating. "We would like this cooperation to develop for Ukraine to become closer to the EU and NATO," the Polish President said.
