Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak is convinced that the United States will adhere to the principled position of supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity during a meeting between US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 16 in Geneva.
"The meeting between Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin is very important. I think the whole world will monitor it. A few days ago, President Joe Biden called President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss all issues, including this meeting with the President of Russia and the position of the United States at this meeting. After all, the United States is a strategic partner of Ukraine, which always supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country. The President of Ukraine heard the same during this conversation with the President of the United States. This position is principled and unwavering," Andriy Yermak said during a working trip of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the Donetsk region.
The Head of the Office of the President stressed that it is illogical and impossible to consider and solve any issues concerning Ukraine without Ukraine, it is not in the interests of our country, and he is absolutely sure that such a position is shared by Ukraine’s partners.
Speaking about the situation in Donbas, Andriy Yermak noted that, fortunately, in recent days there has been a certain decrease in tension on the touch line.
"There are fewer shots, fewer provocations, and as a result, we have not had a single victim in the last few days. But it is too early to say that this is a solid trend," he said.
Andriy Yermak reminded that the representatives of Ukraine in the Trilateral Contact Group and in the Normandy format have tried several times to achieve signing of a joint document, which would officially state the return to full ceasefire in Donbas, but this has not happened yet, unfortunately.
