Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak held a videoconference meeting with former European Commissioner for the Environment and former Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström, during which the parties discussed the activities of the international working group on Russia's environmental crimes, which is being established at the Office of the President.

Andriy Yermak thanked Margot Wallström for constantly supporting Ukraine, in particular in countering Russia's crimes against the environment.

The Head of the President's Office emphasized that the international working group should focus on several areas, including the assessment of damage caused by Russia to the environment, responsibility for ecocide and other crimes against the environment, and environmental recovery.

"Due to the disaster caused by Russia at the Kakhovka HPP and all the risks we face, I believe that our working group will quickly achieve the first results and draw global attention to the scale of Russia's environmental crimes and the need to unite the efforts of the whole world to counter Russia's environmental crimes," said Andriy Yermak.

For her part, Margot Wallström emphasized the importance of establishing an international working group and agreed with the statement that the environmental problems Ukraine faced due to the Russian invasion concern the whole world. According to her, it is necessary to give a comprehensive assessment of the environmental damage.
