President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is convinced that the first step towards the membership of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova in the European Union should be the recognition of the European perspective of these states in accordance with Article 49 of the Treaty on European Union.

We, the Heads of State of Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine have gathered in Batumi to strengthen the trilateral cooperation among our countries on European integration and reiterate our pledge to work together for the peaceful, democratic and prosperous European future for Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked for the Conclusions of the European Council of June 24 and noted the importance of recognition of the European aspirations of the associate partners by the EU leaders. At the same time, it is equally important to turn them into real steps and actions. He said this during his participation in the Batumi International Conference.

Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova share a common vision of their future path - membership in the European Union, and they need the support of the EU in this, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his speech at the first session of the Batumi International Conference.

The Head of State walked along the Ingur Bridge, which is currently the only checkpoint in the region. The President noted that during his visit to the Abastumani monitoring point he had the opportunity to see the occupation of part of the country's sovereign territory.

On July 19, 2021, Volodymyr Zelenskyy will pay a working visit to Georgia to launch the Associated Trio of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova at the level of heads of state. The leaders of the three countries will sign the Declaration of the Associated Trio Summit and hold a joint meeting with President of the European Council Charles Michel.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the devastating floods in Western Europe and hopes that the consequences of the disaster will be promptly eliminated.

Today, July 17, is the seventh anniversary of the tragedy of the Malaysia Airlines MH17 plane, which was shot down by a Buk anti-aircraft missile from the occupied territory of Donbas. Ukraine is closely monitoring the ongoing trial in the Netherlands and looks forward to Russia cooperating with investigators in the case to find out the truth and bring the perpetrators to justice.
