The agreement on the provision of this humanitarian aid was reached following the phone conversation between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held on March 26, 2020.

The Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) held a regular meeting in the video conference mode. Ukraine was represented at the meeting by a renewed delegation formed by a decree of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The interlocutors discussed the issues of further high-level contacts, as well as trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries. Particular attention was paid to the practical implementation of promising investment projects in Ukraine in the field of agriculture, transport and medical infrastructure.

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak met with media representatives. The Head of the Presidential Office introduced the members of the Ukrainian delegation established by Presidential Decree № 167/2020 on May 5 this year to participate in the Trilateral Contact Group.

The events of recent months have demonstrated how a pandemic can force the whole world to close its borders in the shortest possible time and it won’t be possible to open them quickly. This should encourage global players to make changes to the system of international relations to prevent the closure of borders in the event of another pandemic. This was emphasized in an interview by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the chief architect of the development and implementation of the state's foreign policy. Although the last year has been difficult for our country in the field of foreign policy, the Head of State has shown since the beginning of his term and continues to show the leadership qualities needed in times of crisis. The interlocutors exchanged information on the measures taken by Ukraine and Sweden to counteract COVID-19 and agreed on the need to coordinate appropriate steps to protect the health of the citizens of both countries. They noted the importance of organizing flights to return Ukrainians to their homeland, the last of which was made the day before.

The parties discussed the implementation of the agreements reached during previous contacts between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau.
